MINGLE WITH THE VINES
When paired with the ideal soils, the 325’ to 450’ elevation, and the south-to-southeast slope of the vineyard, the opportunity for exceptional wines awaits us in our own backyard. With respect for the land, our vineyard is dry-farmed and hand-harvested using organic farming practices. There are currently 20 acres planted, 5 of which were hand-selected clones by the Owens and planted in 2021 and 2023. Located along Calkins Lane in Newberg, the family purchased this property primarily for its outstanding terroir and their love for the wines produced in the area.

Get to Know the Area
Welcome to Our Home—the Chehalem Mountain AVA
Located 45 minutes outside of Portland, Balsall Creek’s estate vineyard blooms each spring on 35 acres of rich farmland in the Chehalem Mountains AVA just north of the Dundee Hills in Oregon’s wine mecca, the Willamette Valley. Surrounded by established Newberg, Dayton, McMinnville, and Yamhill wineries, some of our favorite wines come from this area and these soils. We were confident the terroir would provide the foundation for producing exceptional wines of our own. We invite you to indulge your senses in the beauty of the region and learn more about this magical parcel of countryside and its extraordinary bounty.
